The daughter of a Sicilian Father and Italian mother, she has always been passionate about music and her earliest memories are of her heart dancing at the sound of the Mediterranean melodies she was surrounded by.
At the age of eight years old she began taking Piano lessons. Not content with that, at the age of thirteen she then also started to take Flute lessons, eventually achieving Grade 8 Royal Schools of Music in both instruments, playing in regional orchestras and ensembles.
With wide-ranging tastes in music she went on to experiment with a variety of genres from folk and rock to improvisational jazz, mainly as a Flautist with various bands.
A decisive moment for her came in the ‘90s when she bought her first very basic keyboard, which was soon superseded by a Roland E-600 arranger keyboard and she still has to this day.
Her musical influences include:
Bach, Pachelbel, Albinoni, Debussy, Satie, Poulenc, John Ireland, Rachmaninov, Barber, Cole Porter, Copeland, The The, Air, Crowded House, The Waterboys, Kate Bush, The Stranglers, Tangerine Dream, New Model Army, Muse, Bowie, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Clannad, Enigma, The Pogues, Snow Patrol, Martyn Bennett and many more
Away with the Faeries is her first real solo work and it was performed, recorded and produced by the composer. A turning point in her career, it clearly demonstrates her unique and unmistakeable style, with the emphasis very much on ‘chilled’. It was inspired by a beautifully illustrated book entitled “How to Catch Fairies” by Gilly Sergiev which she was given as a gift and from the world of myths and legends, together with memories of her childhood. It has taken two years to complete and shall be released in 2008
